puzzlez Becomes a Separate shapez Game Instead of shapez 2 DLC

More than 75 official puzzles and a community puzzle editor are announced. Development of shapez 2 continues alongside it.

tobspr Games announced puzzlez as a standalone game on September 7. Its content was originally intended as an expansion. The change makes puzzlez a separate product and release, rather than a mode automatically included in every shapez 2 copy.

More than 75 official puzzles are planned for launch, alongside tools for creating and sharing player-made challenges. The focus is therefore on solving bounded production problems, rather than solely expanding a large factory over the long term.

For a specialised building-game publication, the distinction matters: a puzzle guide requires a specific task, permitted tools and verifiable solution steps. A generally optimal factory from another mode is not automatically a valid answer.

The announcement also refers to shapez 2 update 1.2. Unity 6, mod support and blueprint migration concern the main game’s development. Work on 1.3 continues, but the report gives no firm date.

One project’s status does not replace the other’s. The official puzzle count and editor plans are announced puzzlez content; update 1.2 and further version planning concern shapez 2. Purchasing advice and guide links should maintain this distinction.
